Prolonged sitting can destabilize the pelvis, desensitize the glutes, and dry the spine.
The human body lives off spirals and curve. Slouching into the multiple 90 degree angles of a chair only box your body into a cubicle worker, not athlete.
For those having to be stuck inside all day in school stuck in chairs, I have nothing but sympathy. That was me for a long time behind the computer or notepad studying accounting.
An unstable pelvis can be caused by a sedentary lifestyle. Curve in the lower back is optimal. Don't slouch. This is what's caused by so much sitting. The sacrum houses the parasympathetic nervous system which means that a lot of sitting that destabilizes the pelvis can hold back your ability to relax if the parasympathetic system can't activate as well.
A paradigm shift we need is to understand that school is not designed for health. University is not designed to create healthy minds or healthy bodies. I'll leave it at that. Below are some things you can do to mitigate the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle.
Lay like a lion. Sit on the floor. Sprawl out. Squat low. Bring one leg up and leave the other one down. Have variety and ultimately do what's comfortable. Just don't do more sitting.
sitting...
Yes it's not good to be sitting all day. Although the higher your fascial fitness, the more you can get away with it, I still recommend against it for optimal function.
